Since childhood David has been a highly mechanical person, as was his father, Alfred R. Bell, who actually built his own car almost from scratch in the 1940's. David has had a very active involvement with motor scooters, go carts, motorcycles, old cars, hot rods, and then in his engineering career exposure to large industrial engines, turbines, gear boxes, and a world of other machinery.
As an active rancher and cattle breeder, who still owns ranch land near Lexington, TX, David owned and operated many pieces of farm equipment, such as tractors, shredders, bailers, and all the associated items needed on most farm and ranch operations. This experience has give David an appreciation for equipment maintenance and how important it is to take good care of your machines so they will work for you.
In 1980 David started a career in sales as an independent distributor of a health care products manufacturer, a company that began in 1958, based near San Francisco, CA and is still a world class leader in their field even today. This experience, with income on straight commission, just like AMSOIL, where David become one of the top 1% in sales within just a few years, prepared David for what would could eight years later, in 1988, when Carol and he started the AMSOIL business. There has not been a normal company paycheck for wages coming to David since March of 1980. Anyone in sales can tell you it is a different experience to be on straight commission and only the strong and smart survive. David & Carol Bell earn a six figure annual income in their AMSOIL business and are working toward a seven figure annual income!
A testimonial to the ability of David & Carol Bell is the fact that more than 22 Dealerships in the Bell Team have reached the very high level of Direct Jobber or above. Very few AMSOIL teams can make this statement, and it is strong evidence to the leadership skills and ability to teach other Dealers a proven path to success in the AMSOIL business. Carol H. Bell is also a leader and proven teacher with more than 24 years in the classrooms of high schools in the State of Texas. Most of this teaching career was devoted to the subjects Latin and English. Carol has strong writing skills, teaching skills, organizational skills, and the ability to teach others these much needed business skills. Carol graduated with a Masters Degree from the prestigious University of Texas at Austin in 1970.
Carol has contributed heavily to building the Bells' AMSOIL business and has participated in all the training classes done over the years. The workbooks and many types of electronic and written materials given out by the Bells to Dealers in their team are all carefully reviewed and made highly accurate by Carol.
Actually, it was Carol who first found AMSOIL and brought it to the attention of David. Here is the story...
A few months before I met David, a long time family friend introduced me to AMSOIL because I had just bought a new car. I trusted this friend and was glad to be able to use an oil that I didn't have to change so often and would be a much better protection for my car. I was always very careful to change oil every 3,000 miles so to not have to do it for a whole year was wonderful! I purchased the motor oil, oil filter, and air filter from my friend and didn't bother to think about it for the whole next year.
It was almost a year after I met David that we were married, and once we were settled in our home, I did happen to remember the oil needed changing. Frankly, I was glad not to have to deal with it anymore. I did tell David about AMSOIL, but he didn't think it was a good idea to use any oil that long. I kept quiet as he took AMSOIL out of my car and put in Havoline along with a regular oil and air filter. I wasn't sure what my friend was going to say, but I decided not to worry about it.
Even though David got rid of my AMSOIL products, the idea intrigued him, and he started looking into the products and the company. Within a month, AMSOIL was not only back in my car, but it was also in David's car. Before much more time went by, we were in the AMSOIL business.
